Tigers re-sign Phil Coke to one-year deal

One day after making a huge trade, Dave Dombrowski was back to work with a smaller move Thursday morning.
The Tigers announced that they have re-signed left-handed reliever Phil Coke to a one-year contract. Coke had been eligible for arbitration.
Coke finished 2012 as Detroit's postseason closer, replacing Jose Valverde, and his glove-hurling celebration as the Tigers won the ALCS will live on team highlight reels for decades. However, he lost his chance at the closer's role early in 2013, and finished the season with a 0-5 record and a 5.40 ERA while only picking up one save.
After being left off the ALDS roster to a sore arm, he was brought back for the ALCS and pitched in four games, facing exactly one batter each time. He only allowed one hit -- a single to Jacoby Ellsbury in the 7th inning of Detroit's 7-3 win in Game 4.
