DETROIT -- The Detroit have agreed to terms with right-handed reliever Mark Lowe on a two-year contract.

"Mark solidifies the back end of our bullpen," said Al Avila, executive vice president of baseball operations and general manager. "He is coming off a solid season and is someone we felt would upgrade our relief pitching."

Lowe, 32, played for the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015, pitching in 57 games and compiling a 1-3 record with one save, a 1.96 ERA (55.0IP/12ER) and 61 strikeouts. He ranked sixth among American League relievers with a 1.96 ERA after not allowing a run in 49 of his 57 appearances during the season. Over his final 41.1 innings pitched in 2015, Lowe struck out 48 batters, giving him 10.53 strikeouts per nine innings during that stretch.
