Thursday Night Fantasy Football Preview: Seahawks at 49ers

With three games on Thanksgiving, this one is looking like the least appetizing as far as fantasy football is concerned. Two stout defenses battle in a game with the lowest over/under for Week 13. Vegas has the total set at 39 ½ points (only game under 40 points) with San Francisco favored by one point.

That would make the projected score 20-19, 49ers. Seems like a lot of field goals to me.

Strong play:

Marshawn Lynch, RB – Yeah.

Medium plays:

Frank Gore, RB – For the Seahawks, in the last three weeks, the defense has allowed four rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs (Andre Williams, Knile Davis, and two by Jamaal Charles). Though he’s fumbled in back-to-back games, I expect him to hang on to the ball this week, tally close to 80 yards, and possibly even find the end zone.

Both kickers – In the past five meetings, they have averaged 3.8 made field goals per game. The last time they faced each other, Phil Dawson made four field goals (including a 52-yarder). Last week, against the Cardinals, Steven Hauschka made four field goals (including a 52-yarder).

Both D/STs – Seattle is third against the pass (208.5 yards per game through the air) and sixth against the run (88.4 rushing yards allowed per game). San Francisco is second against the pass (207.2 passing yards allowed) and seventh against the run (92.9 rushing yards per game). Both teams are averaging fewer than 21 points allowed per game.

Weak plays:

Both quarterbacks – Russell Wilson has only thrown six touchdowns in four career games against the 49ers. That is only because he had a four-TD performance in 2012. Colin Kaepernick has only thrown two TDs in four games against Seattle. Also, while both QBs are considered “running quarterbacks,” neither of them has rushed for a TD against the opposing team.

All wide receivers – If I don’t like the QBs, then I don’t like the WRs. Sorry to those with Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin, and Doug Baldwin.
