Three takeaways from the Blue Jackets 6-3 loss to the Islanders


One: A slow start allowed the Islanders to play "Blue Jackets hockey" better than Columbus did to the tune of two goals before they found their legs. New York manhandled them at will for the first half of the period. They found the resiliency to bounce back and not give up to tie the game after twenty minutes.
Two: As the game wore on, it became a more physical affair. The refs were not the greatest, but not particularly horrible, either. The refs did let the game get away from them in the latter stages of the period. A late goal by Foigno was of the typical, "dirty" variety from the 2015 NHL All-Star Captain.
Three: The Islanders showed why they are at the top of the Metropolitan Division and that they're ready for the playoffs to begin. One team was playing as a well-oiled machine, while the Blue Jackets had their moments but couldn't sustain a crisp enough game to compete with the Isles down the stretch. And so their season goes...
