Three Takeaways from the Blue Jackets 4-3 Win Over the Hurricanes

BY foxsports • December 23, 2013

One: They didn't dominate the game, yet found a way to win in regulation and get the much needed two points against a divisional opponent. At times, their passing looked somewhat lackadaisical, as if they were already looking forward to the Christmas break. It wasn't pretty, but at the end of the day the win is what counts.

Two: With the many injured players on this club (150 man games lost), contributions came from up and down the lineup as players stepped-up their game. Recent waiver acquisition Corey Tropp scored his 1st goal for Columbus and Ryan Johansen and Artem Anisimov found the back of the net against the Hurricanes. Which brings us to…

Three: Jack Skille, off a phenomenal behind-the-back pass from Anisimov, scored the game-winning goal to secure the much needed two points. In just 9 games with the Blue Jackets, Skille has 4 goals on 15 shots and is a +3. Game after game, he's showing why he was a 1st round draft pick by Chicago in 2005. If he hasn't done so already, he's got to be very close to making the case for a one-way contract with Columbus for next year. They don't want to let this guy get to the summer un-signed, as he's a UFA in 2014.
