One: The Blue Jackets were a step off the mark getting their legs going in the early stages of the game. Their passing was not crisp. They also had a hard time keeping pace with a much faster Montreal team.

Two: They got back to playing their game in the middle frame, keeping pace and creating opportunities. There were still breakdowns, but they became fewer as the period wore on. The intensity between the two teams ramped up as the Blue Jackets tried to find the equalizer before the end of the period.

Three: Columbus goaltender Curtis McElhinney gave them many chances to even the score and has been playing some of his best hockey. A full 60-minute effort is key over the course of the final 25 games.
