Three takeaways from the Blue Jackets 2-1 loss to the Rangers

One: They played a better game than the loss to Montreal on Wednesday, but ultimately didn't play a full 60 minute game leading to a 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers. Once the Rangers pushed back in the second period, the Blue Jackets reverted to slower transitions out of their zone. Although better than recent games, their transition game needs to get more consistent.

Two: Josh Anderson played a heck of a game for his NHL debut. He had a couple of scoring chances and wanted the puck all night. He played a physical game and was hitting Rangers on almost every shift in order to get the puck from them. If he can sustain this level of physical play, he should be a fine addition in time.

Three: The top line of Hartnell, Johansen and Foligno were a force that the Rangers had to deal with all night. They threw everything but the kitchen-sink at Henrik Lundqvist in goal, although Hartnell did score after being sprung on a breakaway by Johansen. As head coach Todd Richards often says, your best players have to be your best players. Tonight, this was the best line on the ice for Columbus.
