Trying something different today. Always trying something different. One of these days I'll figure it out. Or I won't. Hard to tell the difference...

– I will argue that most things are better today than they were in the good ol' days. Most things, but not all. One thing that was better? Magazine covers. There are a lot of reasons for this, but one of them is that the brilliant Ozzie Sweet used to shoot a bunch of the Sport covers. In the third part of a series of articles for The National Pastime Museum, sometime Sweet collaborator Larry Canale presents a few more of Sweet's great images and the stories behind them.

– Why is it so hard to hit a curveball? Why do people continue to talk about pitches with a "late" break when there's not any such thing? Vox's Joseph Stromberg has the answers! With science! And video!

– Are the Rays and Royals really revolutionizing the use of starting pitchers? Well, maybe. Or maybe they're just doing whatever they can to cope with their injury-depleted rotations. Probably a little of both, I'll guess. But you should read Cork Gaines' article for Yahoo! Finance and decide for yourself!
