Theatre Star wins on the turf at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Theatre Star won the $60,000 feature for older fillies and mares by three-quarters of a length at Santa Anita on Friday.

Ridden by Gary Stevens, Theatre Star ran 1 1/8 miles on the turf in 1:47.52 and paid $5.60, $4 and $2.80 as the 9-5 favorite.

Rhagori returned $4.80 and $3.20, while Moulin de Mougin was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.80 to show.

Theatre Star ran for the first time under new trainer Tom Proctor after being privately purchased by Glen Hill Farm and transferred to his barn.

The victory, worth $36,000, increased Theatre Star's career earnings to $103,400, with four wins in five starts.

Stevens and Proctor teamed up for their 11th victory in 29 starts at the current meet, where they are winning at a 38 percent clip.
