... or read below to find out what it is.
There was once a time, long ago, when "mock drafts" were limited to the outskirts of sports conversation, the domain of the statistically obsessed fringes of fandom. In those days, draftniks had nowhere to turn with their NFL draft predictions beyond disinterested family members, or long letters to local newspapers which were summarily ignored. They needed an outlet, a chance to find people of like minds.
Then, the internet arrived, perhaps expressly for this purpose.
With the advent of instant digital communication, draftniks now had the opportunity to share their prognostications with the entire connected world at the press of a button. We will leave any value judgements as to whether this was something "good" or "horrible" to the reader.
As it is, though, the internet now contains thousands of NFL mock drafts, with no apparent limits to growth. Every year, more appear on the scene, starting earlier and earlier in the year. Mock Drafts multiply faster than rabbits, and are as tough to keep track of as a battalion of over-caffeinated six-year olds.
Responding to the hyperinflated bubble of draft-related analysis, many fans retreat from the internet entirely, pulling out cables and phone lines in a desperate attempt to keep their brains from descending the murky pits of mock draft overload-related madness.
This is not the answer. Do not disavow the internet. We are here to help.
With the Mock Draft Muncher, we store versions of most of the major mock drafts in a database, crunch them all together, and tell you about the related consensus and trends. We purify mock drafts down to the very essence of insight.
Using the latest available mock draft recording technology (see photo), we capture mock drafts at various points during the traditional February-April mock drafting season, and watch carefully as trends bubble their way through the mockdraftosphere.
And then we give that to you.All in one spot, all for free.
A little history: the Mock Draft Muncher has been part of the Orange and Brown Report since before it was the "Orange and Brown Report". Since 2000, the Mock Draft Muncher has been part of every off-season, giving fans a quick look at the predictions being made in the major mock drafts. Now it comes to the wide world of Fox via Fox Sports Ohio.
Using the Mock Draft Muncher, you can see who draft experts are predicting your team will take at each position, which players are rising or falling, and what the trends are at each position in the draft. With this knowledge, not even Al Davis will be able to shock you with bizarre selections. You can enjoy the NFL Draft, serene in the knowledge that you (and dozens of mock drafters) saw it coming. Or didn't.
