The best and worst of the Big 12: Week 8

Let's hand out the hardware for Week 8 in the Big 12.
Best offensive performance: Trevone Boykin, QB, TCU. The Frogs quarterback continues to direct TCU's offensive revolution. He set a career high against a good OSU defense with 410 yards passing, three touchdowns and a pick on 26-of-39 passing. He also ran for 41 yards and has TCU in the drivers' seat for the Big 12 title heading down the stretch.
Best team performance: West Virginia. The Mountaineers weren't far from knocking off Alabama and Oklahoma earlier this season, but stuffed Baylor's running game and grounded the whole offense in a 41-27 win in Morgantown. The Bears had just 95 yards on 42 carries, and a lot of that yardage came late with WVU playing soft and looking to prevent big plays.
Worst celebration: West Virginia fans. Nothing like celebrating a big win by causing some damage to public property that your taxes will eventually pay to replace. Awesome stuff, WVU fans. If this is what happens after a moderately surprising upset, I'd hate to see these people's revelry after a wedding or the birth of a child.
Worst team performance: Oklahoma State. Who would have thought we'd see the day OSU went into the locker room trailing 28-9 and didn't complete a pass in the second half? Daxx Garman was 0-6 with an interception. OSU's running game hasn't been effective enough to give the passing game some balance, and you're seeing a regression to the pre-2010 Oklahoma State offense. Saturday was OSU's worst loss since a 56-20 rout against Texas Tech in 2008.
Second-worst team performance: Baylor. The Bears fell victim to some questionable flags, but they weren't all questionable. BU won the Big 12 last season despite being the league's most penalized team, and they look determined to retain that latter crown. Baylor drew 18 flags for a Big 12 record 215 yards. Six of those were pass interference flags and four came on balls thrown to Kevin White, the nation's leader in receiving yardage. He caught a few balls early and the Bears' defensive backs looked to lose all sense of confidence in trying to defend him.
Best play: James Castleman, Oklahoma State. H-h...how did you do this, James Castleman? Are you Highlander?
Worst play(s): Michael Hunnicutt, K, Oklahoma. Poor guy. Kickers are too often cast as goats in games with tons of moving parts, but his yank on a go-ahead 19-yard kick was one of the worst misses I've ever seen, much less in that situation. Those are the kicks upon which the #CollegeKickers foundation is built. Before Saturday (Hunnicutt was 1-3 on field goals and had an extra point blocked), OU's all-time leader in scoring was 32-36 on field goals since the beginning of 2013. Bad days for a kicker make me feel worse for him when he's been stellar otherwise.
Nastiest streak: Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma. He continues to be a nightmare. K-State DB Morgan Burns woke up Sunday morning with a Perine-shaped bruise on his entire body.
