Texas soccer coach blown out of his shoes by lightning

A Texas man was hospitalized in critical condition Friday after he was struck by lightning while coaching a boys soccer team, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Franco Emmanuel Olascoaga, 21, was on his cell phone during practice at Crippen Elementary School in Porter when he was struck.
The 21-year-old was knocked out of his shoes by the blast and was placed in a medically induced coma at the Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center.
A nine-year-old girl, Vanessa Torres, was also taken to the hospital after the lightning strike. She is in a fair condition.
Rene Salas, vice president of the Dynamic Soccer Club of Houston, said: "They just heard real loud thunder and a loud popping."
He said the team's first match of the fall season had been canceled.
"They are devastated -- the kids are devastated," Salas said. "They're not taking it too well."
