Kenny Hill's fall from the No. 1 starting quarterback spot for Texas A&M took a strange twist Saturday morning when he was suspended for two games.
The school released a statement stating that Hill was suspended for a violation of team rules and athletic department policies.
Hill started the first eight games for the Aggies (5-3), winning the first five. But the Aggies have lost their last three games and head coach Kevin Sumlin said during the bye week that every spot was up for grabs for A&M.
True freshman Kyle Allen took the first-team reps Thursday and was slated to make his first start Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe.
Hill, a sophomore, has 23 touchdown passes with eight interceptions. Six of the eight interceptions have come in the last three games. Allen, one of the top quarterback prospects in the country coming out of Arizona, has thrown just 38 passes this year.
Hill's suspension means that Allen not only will start today but also next week when the Aggies play at Auburn.
