ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals might be just a hair over .500 in their first 10 days of the season, but Opening Day in St. Louis on Monday receives a perfect score from this girl. Cardinal fans showed why they are the best fans in baseball by painting the town red despite the wet weather.

The rain didn't faze Kayla and me, either. We were able to enjoy the new view from across the street as the first people to sit in the Cardinals Nation AT&T Rooftop seats. What an amazing way to enjoy a game!

I highly recommend trying this new perspective this season.

It will feel extra sweet when we get to show who does it better when the Cubbies come to town this weekend.

-- We were blessed to begin our home-opener events with the Cardinal Glennon Homers for Health Game Ball Run, which delivered the game ball -- the one Chris Carpenter used to toss the ceremonial first pitch -- 26 miles from Maryville University to Busch Stadium. During our leg of the run, we met our new friend Robert, who was a patient at the children's hospital last year and now runs on his school's track team. We were so honored to take part in the event with such a strong and awesome young man.

Kayla and I will be at Thursday evening's inaugural Homers for Health Game Shows night at Ballpark Village, helping to raise money for courageous kids like Robert. We will be joined by current Cardinals players as well as local people coming together to support this great cause.

-- Speaking of strength and recovery, the St. Louis Blues had a special visit Tuesday from a wounded warrior, Army Ranger Sgt. First Class Cory Remsburg of St. Louis. It is so touching to see players support those who have sacrificed for our country.

Blues captain David Backes said the soldier's visit helped put things in perspective for the team as it was coming off two straight losses at the time. Hopefully, this helps St. Louis flip the switch as the team now has lost its last three. With three games left in the regular season, the Blues have enough time to turn the tables and start a different kind of streak.

-- Diamonds are a girl's best friend, especially when it comes to some National League championship bling sculpted into the famous STL logo. Boys, take a page out of this book -- maybe your girl is more interested in something like THIS. 

-- When I heard of Mizzou wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham's suspension this week, I assumed it was tied to his second marijuana arrest and investigation in January. Turns out, it might be from a new incident. Sean Keeler, who helped connect the dots in his article on FOXSportsMidwest.com, says it best: "When you sign up for the glory, you sign up for the fishbowl, too." Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but all eyes will be on you when you are in the spotlight. Choose your friends wisely, learn from your mistakes. I hope he does, I hope he does .... 

-- But things are still looking good for the Missouri football team after its breakout season last year. Coach Gary Pinkel and the Tigers received a verbal commitment from Lee's Summit High quarterback Drew Lock on Wednesday, which marks the program's third four-star prospect in just eight days. "I have decided to play football in the SEC, two hours down the road," he said at the press conference, as reported by Nate Latsch. Glad to see Mizzou keeping regional talent at home.

Joey Votto dressed in a Royal Canadian Mounted Police uniform at Busch Stadium before the Cards-Reds game on Tuesday. Sorry, Votto, you aren't quite as funny as some of the Cardinals personalities who have entertained us with camel costumes and other funny antics. Nice try, though.
