TE McMichael agrees to contract with Chargers

The San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms with tight end Randy McMichael on a two-year deal.
The 6-3, 248-pounder will play his 11th NFL season in 2012. He’s spent the last two seasons with the Chargers and in 2011 played in all 16 games while making 14 starts. He caught 30 passes for 271 yards in ’11 and increased his career totals to 417 catches for 4,488 yards and 24 touchdowns. McMichael still contributes on special teams for the Chargers and he had six tackles last season.
McMichael becomes the ninth unrestricted free agent signed by the Chargers since free agency opened on Tuesday. He joins SS Atari Bigby, T Jared Gaither, OLB Jarrett Johnson, FB Le’Ron McClain, WR Robert Meachem, WR-KR Eddie Royal, TE Kory Sperry and QB Charlie Whitehurst. The list does not include C Nick Hardwick and LB Demorrio Williams, who both signed before Tuesday.
