TCU tops Oklahoma State 7-1 for Big 12 title

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Tyler Alexander threw a four-hitter, Dylan Fitzgerald hit a two-run single during a four-run fourth inning and TCU beat Oklahoma State 7-1 on Sunday in the Big 12 Conference tournament title game.
In making its argument for a top-eight seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament, TCU (42-15) won its first team title -- in either the regular season or postseason -- in any sport since joining the Big 12 before the 2012-13 school year.
The Horned Frogs have won 27 of their last 30 games, including four straight in the conference tournament. Alexander (9-3) was masterful, allowing just two baserunners past second base, striking out four and walking none.
Michael Freeman (2-1) allowed seven hits in five-plus innings for Oklahoma State (45-16), the Big 12 regular-season champion.
Both TCU and Oklahoma State were selected as NCAA tournament regional hosts.
