MADISON, Wis. — Jordan Taylor's career as a Wisconsin basketball player officially ended Thursday night, but the accolades from his senior season continue to mount.
Taylor was named as an Associated Press All-America honorable mention selection on Monday, one season after being chosen second-team All-America. It marks just the second time a Wisconsin player has earned multiple All-America honors since the AP began selecting All-Americans in 1948. Michael Finley was a three-time honorable mention selection from 1993-95.
Taylor led the Badgers in points (14.8) and assists per game (4.1) and helped Wisconsin to 26 wins, the third-highest single-season total in school history. He was named a first-team All-Big Ten pick by the league’s coaches and finished second in the Big Ten with an assists-to-turnovers ratio of 2.6.
The 6-foot-1 point guard from Bloomington, Minn., earned All-East Regional honors after playing in three NCAA tournament games this season. He averaged 16.0 points and 5.0 assists and nearly led the Badgers to an upset of No. 1 Syracuse. Taylor scored 17 points and hit five 3-pointers in Wisconsin’s 64-63 loss to Syracuse in the Sweet 16 on Thursday.
Taylor closed his Wisconsin career seventh in school history with 1,533 points and set an NCAA record with a 3.01 career assists-to-turnovers ratio. He equaled the school record by appearing in 136 career games and registered 464 career assists, which ranks second at Wisconsin.
