Suh backs out of Pro Bowl

Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has joined Detroit Lions teammate Calvin Johnson in backing out of the Pro Bowl.
Suh will be replaced by Cincinnati's Geno Atkins, according to the Bengals' website, which cited an undisclosed injury as the reason for the Detroit All-Pro's decision not to play.
Toes still frozen, perhaps?
More than likely, it has much to do with Suh's pending free-agent status and, therefore, a desire to avoid any chance of a serious injury at such a crucial contract time.
Johnson, hampered by an ankle injury throughout the season, previously was replaced by New York Giants rookie Odell Beckham Jr.
That leaves safety Glover Quin, making his first appearance, as the only Lion remaining on the Pro Bowl roster. He considers it quite an honor and isn't likely to give up his spot.
It's possible that quarterback Matthew Stafford and receiver Golden Tate, both of whom were selected as alternates, still could join Quin if enough other players are ruled out.
The Pro Bowl is scheduled for January 25 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., one week before the Super Bowl is held at the same venue.
