Store owner would 'welcome' Honey Badger as spokesman

Tyrann Mathieu, like most NFL players, probably wouldn't mind making a few bucks off the field. Maybe from a car ad, discount double-check, jewelry outlets, etc. Well, one Phoenix business is knocking Tyrann's door. Bud's Glass Joint, located in Phoenix's downtown art district, is a purveyor of "glass pipes, water pipes, bats and bowls." They also carry "vaporizers, hookahs, incense and other smoking accessories." In fact, Bud's placed an ad that ran last Thursday in the Phoenix New Times, which features the Honey Badger's visage. Greg Centrone, one of the Bud's owners, wasn't trying to make a statement by using a photo of Mathieu, whose adventures with marijuana have been well chronicled. "I just thought it was funny," Centrone told Laces Out. In fact, local reaction to the ad had been lukewarm until Monday, when radio stations and the like began calling Bud's for interviews. So, now that there has been a response, will the store pursue a more permanent relationship with the Honey Badger? "That’s a funny question (laughs). If he wanted to be a [spokesman], I would definitely welcome him to be," Centrone said. Neither Mathieu nor or his agent have contacted Bud's Glass Joint about the ad, a job opportunity, or even to inquire about the their products and services.
