ST. LOUIS -- Chris Stewart cashed in early.

The St. Louis Blues forward has agreed to terms on a two-year contract, the team announced Friday. Stewart, who was a restricted free agent, will earn a total of $8.3 million, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and NHL.com reported.

The signing came three days after the NHL set an arbitration hearing for Stewart and the Blues. That July 22 meeting will obviously no longer be needed.

Stewart, 25, led the Blues with 18 goals and 36 points in last year's lockout-shortened season. He has played in 319 games, scoring 100 goals and 102 assists for a total of 202 points. He accumulated 329 penalty minutes.
