Stephen F. Austin rallies past Arizona women in second half

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Senior Carissa Crutchfield had a career-high 15 points, but it was not enough to overcome a second-half Stephen F. Austin rally and Arizona fell on Wednesday night, 60-56.
Junior Candice Warthen also scored in double-digits for Arizona, scoring 15 points and grabbing six rebounds.
Freshman LaBrittney Jones led the Wildcats with seven rebounds, as UA outrebounded the Ladyjacks, 38-35.
Arizona led by 15 points early in the second half, but the Ladyjacks held Arizona to 16 points the rest of the half and tied the score with less than three minutes remaining. They hit back-to-back three-pointers and the Wildcats were not able to overcome the deficit.
“We have to make plays,” Arizona coach Niya Butts said. “We were very hesitant on the offensive end and we didn’t have that intensity on our end of the floor. When you don’t have that and you’re not making stops, a double-digit lead can go down fast.”
Arizona held SFA star Porsha Roberts to five total points, but Antionette Carter led the Ladyjacks with 15 and seven rebounds.
“I mean it’s just the fourth game of the season,” Warthen said. “We have the whole season ahead of us. We have a lot to learn and we have to be tougher.”
