St. Louis flag flies over D.C.

Although it might not be any consolation on the day the World Series begins on FOX, St. Louisians should be proud to know that their flag is flying high in the nation's capital.

As a result of a wager between St. Louis Mayor, Francis G. Slay (D) and D.C. Mayor, Vincent C. Gray (D) on the National League Divisional Series between the Cardinals and Nationals, the St. Louis "Three Rivers" flag is being flown above the John A. Wilson building today in Washington, D.C.

Slay is no stranger to civic bets on baseball, and is unfortunately on the wrong end of a wager after the Cardinals devastating NLCS loss to San Francisco in which he will send Budweiser, barbecue and toasted ravioli to SF Mayor Edwin M. Lee (D).

It might not cure the desire for a World Series in St. Louis, but at least the flag will fly high in D.C. for a day.
