Sri Lanka wins toss, bats in 2nd ODI vs. New Zealand

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (AP) Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat Monday in the second one-day international against New Zealand.
The cricket match is being played on the same pitch at Hagley Oval on which New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets on Saturday to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
While captains Brendon McCullum and Angelo Mathews expect the pitch to be good for batting, both teams stiffened their lineups with spin bowling options.
New Zealand named leg-spinner Ish Sodhi in place of fast bowler Adam Milne, who has a slight injury, while star batsman Kane Williamson is again unavailable with a knee strain.
Sri Lanka added leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay, on debut, and off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake, while Suranga Lakmal and Ajintha Mendis drop out of the tourists' lineup.
Sri Lanka also won the toss and batted in the first match of the series but was bowled out for only 188 after slumping early to 27-5. New Zealand breezed past that total with half centuries for Martin Guptill and McCullum.
The weather for the match is warm but overcast with a stiff breeze.
