Spencer: Lawrence's injury doesn't change anything for me

OXNARD, Calif. -- DeMarcus Lawrence's foot injury isn't speeding up Anthony Spencer's recovery process.
Spencer, who has been rehabbing from October microfracture surgery on his left knee, worked with a trainer on resistance chords during Tuesday's afternoon practice.
"It went really well," Spencer said Wednesday. "Being able to get off and push off that leg really well, so we'll see. It's still a work in progress. The next step is to use those chords and build up the resistance and change of direction stuff. We did a little bit of that [Tuesday]. I'm feeling good this morning.
"Each day I'm doing something new and different and my body responds to it really well."
Spencer is currently on the team's physically unable to perform list. With Lawrence being lost eight to 12 weeks with a fractured right foot, Spencer's return becomes even more critical for the right defensive end position.
"It really doesn't change too much of what I'm doing," Spencer said. "I definitely want to be back out there. I want to be back out there Week 1. But at the same time, I don't want to rush myself and have any setbacks. So I'm just going to continue to work at the pace I've been working."
Any advice for Lawrence?
"It just takes time," Spencer said. "You're going to get healthy, just take your time and get where you need to be.
"It's things that happen in football. We're going to find a way to get around it."
