Southpaw Wood to rejoin Braves' rotation Wednesday vs. Astros

In the wake of Gavin Floyd's significant injury from Thursday (fractured right elbow), Wood will officially assume Floyd's rotation spot next Wednesday (against the Astros), the club announced on Friday.
As a starter in the bigs (seven outings), Wood had a 2-5 record, 3.00 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, .260 opponents' batting average and sterling K-BB rate of 44/9.
As a reliever, Wood's tallies with ERA, WHIP and opponents' batting average ticked higher; but it's kind of inconsequential now, since Wood will almost certainly remain in the starting rotation for the remainder of the season, if healthy.
The reasoning behind that hubris: In the minors (26 career starts), Wood had a 9-5 record, 1.01 WHIP, 122/35 K-BB rate and microscopic ERA of 1.68.
To compensate for Floyd going on the disabled list, the Braves promoted left-handed reliever Ryan Buchter (3.79 ERA in 27 appearances with Gwinnett this season).
