MOHALI, India (AP) Captain Steven Smith struck an unbeaten 61 as Australia scored 193-4 against Pakistan in their World Twenty20 Group 2 game on Friday.

Smith smashed seven fours off 43 deliveries during his second T20 fifty in 29 games after Australia elected to bat.

His fourth-wicket stand with Glenn Maxwell (30) tallied 62 runs, and his unbroken fifth-wicket partnership with Shane Watson (44 not out in 21) added 74.

Smith took control in the middle overs as Australia reached the 100-run mark in 12.1 overs, and the 150-run mark in 16.6.

For Pakistan, left-arm pace bowler Wahab Riaz dismissed openers Usman Khawaja (21) and David Warner (9) to finish with 2-35.

Left-arm spinner Imad Wasim chipped in with 2-31.
