Slim Shadey prevails in John Henry

Slim Shadey led all the way in winning the $150,000 John Henry Turf Championship by 2-1/4 lengths at Santa Anita on Sunday.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Slim Shadey ran 1-1/4 miles in 1 minute, 59.17 seconds and returned $8.40 for a $2 win bet.
Turbo Compressor, trained by Todd Pletcher, was second as the 3-2 favorite. Interaction was another 1-1/2 lengths back in third.
Trainer Simon Callaghan said Slim Shadey's next start will be in the Breeders' Cup Turf on Nov. 3 at Santa Anita.

The victory, worth $90,000, increased the 4-year-old gelding's career earnings to $508,600.
