Skyline Chili Musketeer Madness Was A Big Hit With Fans On Friday Night

CINCINNATI -- Xavier University hosted its annual Skyline Chili Musketeer Madness on Friday in front of a lively crowd of 4,853 fans at Cintas Center. The evening began with a party on the plaza outside the arena, plenty of giveaways and prizes and concluded with the men's scrimmage.
Scrimmages and 3-point shooting contests for both teams and the men's slam dunk contest were among the highlights for Musketeer fans.
Sophomore Aliyah Zantt won the women's 3-point shooting contest, while freshman Myles Davis captured the men's crown. The two faced off later with Davis keeping the hot hand, winning with total of 20 points.
The slam dunk contest was arguably the best in Musketeer Madness history. Freshman Jalen Reynolds and sophomore Semaj Christon both threw down three highlight dunks each. The first two dunks for each player left the judges ruling a tie after two rounds. With one extra round, Christon wowed the crowd again but Reynolds took the title by bouncing the ball off the back of the backboard, grabbing it and flying to the other side for the finish.
The women's players defeated their male practice players in the first scrimmage 26-14. Senior Shatyra Hawkes led the way with nine points, six assists and three rebounds in the 10-minute scrimmage.
The men's blue squad captured the nightcap with a 31-20 victory. Remy Abell, a junior transfer from Indiana, led the blue team with 14 points while freshman Jalen Reynolds added eight points and seven rebounds. Junior Matt Stainbrook led the white team with eight points and three rebounds.
FOX Sports 1 captured the energy and excitement surrounding the start of the new college basketball season with coverage from all 10 BIG EAST campuses during the BIG EAST TIP-OFF PARTY on Friday, Oct. 25, from 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET. Xavier head coach Chris Mack was among those interviewed during the broadcast.
