Simmons leads Cougars' rout over Tulane

HOUSTON (AP) -- Jonathon Simmons scored 23 points as all five Houston starters finished in double figures in the Cougars' 82-53 victory over Tulane Wednesday night.
TaShawn Thomas scored 13 points, Joseph Young and Darian Thibodeaux had 12 points each and Alandise Harris added 11 points for Houston (14-14, 6-9 Conference USA). Leon Gibson grabbed 10 rebounds, Harris and Thomas each had nine rebounds and Simmons had eight as Houston owned a 41-27 edge on the boards.
The Cougars never trailed, led 44-30 at halftime and shot 60 percent from the field -- 69 percent in the first half.
Josh Davis led the Green Wave (15-14, 3-12) with 22 points and 12 rebounds. He was the only Tulane player to score in double figures.
