KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Royals' 2014 American League championship rings weigh 1.9 carats and feature over 100 diamonds.

The top of the rings, which were presented prior to the Royals' season opener against the White Sox, depict an interlocking Royals KC logo on top of a baseball diamond. There are 34 pave-set diamonds making up the logo, which is perched on a blue stone specifically designed to match the Royals' blue, according to a team release.

The words "American League Champions" surround the logo and field and border the top of the ring. A line of diamonds circles the ring, and the top and perimeter total 146 diamonds.

The left side of each ring has the player's name across the top, above "MLB Playoff Record" and two flags representing Kansas City's 8-0 start to the postseason. The right side depicts the American League logo in yellow gold, surrounded by three diamonds, representing the Royals' three AL pennants.

Jewelry design company Jostens crafted the rings, which are 10-karat white gold.

"It was a great pleasure working with Jostens in crafting such a beautiful and unique commemorative keepsake which we will be awarding to our players and associates today," Royals president Dan Glass said in a statement. "Every team's goal is to celebrate its on-field accomplishments and it is with tremendous pride that we present this custom ring symbolic of the effort that went into winning the 2014 American League pennant, and it will be cherished by every team member."

Some members of the 2014 team returned to The K to receive their rings. Bruce Chen, Brandon Finnegan and Terrance Gore were among the honorees.
