Shoulder soreness sidelines Rangers Kirkman

The Texas Rangers opened camp thin on the left side in the bullpen and are a little thinner now.
Michael Kirkman, who is one of three left-handed relievers in camp with Texas, will be out for a few days with a shoulder impingement. That leaves the Rangers with just Alex Claudio and Martire Garcia as lefty relievers in camp.
Texas general manager Jon Daniels doesn't think Kirkman's issue is serious but any down time for someone trying to make the roster isn't good. He guessed that Kirkman could be down for about a week.
"To make the club it would be best for him to be out there and performing but we're early enough where if that's all it is better to nip it in the bud and he'll still have a chance to get out there and compete," Daniels said.
He also said that the Kirkman setback doesn't change the team's plans on looking outside the organization for left-handed help. He said the club isn't close to a deal with any lefty free agents but that the club will monitor other teams.
"As other camps open certain clubs have depth in that area and we have depth in other areas," Daniels said. "It's something we'll be on the lookout for. No change in that really."
Kirkman isn't on the 40-man roster and spent most of the 2014 season in Round Rock. He had a 1.59 ERA in 12 appearances for the Rangers.
