SEATTLE -- Despite all the whistles and stoppages of play, Washington's Dejounte Murray would not be stopped.
And when Murray fouled out in overtime, it was Andrew Andrews' turn to hit the big shots for the Huskies.
Murray popped for a career-high 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Andrews hit his first two field goals of the game in the extra session and Washington pulled away for a 95-83 win over Arizona State on Wednesday night.
Murray could not be stopped for most of the game, hitting 10 of 14 shots and adding six assists. He carried the Huskies on a night Andrews was off with his shot, missing his first 11 field goal attempts.
But when Murray was whistled for his fifth foul less than 90 seconds into overtime, it was Andrews scoring five straight points, including a 3-pointer with 2:48 left to give the Huskies a 87-80 lead.
"I said earlier on in the year, you're not going to be able to stop both of us. That's just not going to happen," Andrews said. "Either I'm going to have 30 or (Murray's) going to have 30. Once he gets going, I just keep running the same play to be honest."
Marquese Chriss was 7 of 7 shooting for the Huskies and added 19 points, all coming in the second half and overtime after he played less than two minutes of the first half due to foul trouble. Chriss scored six straight points late in regulation and added a rebound dunk in overtime as the Huskies won their third overtime game of the season.
Tra Holder hit a career-high five 3-pointers and led Arizona State (12-11, 2-8) with 18 points, but the Sun Devils could not maintain their hot shooting from the first half. After shooting 60 percent in the first 20 minutes, the Sun Devils shot 31 percent the rest of the way.
"We just didn't have a guy like Murray out there," Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley said. "When you have a player like him that is so talented and so gifted that can make the plays that he can make it is hard for us to match that."
It was a sloppy game that featured 60 total fouls and numerous lengthy reviews by the officials much to the derision of the home crowd. But Washington took advantage of the constant whistles, hitting 31 of 45 free throws and outscored Arizona State at the line by 11 points.
Andrews, the Pac-12 leader in scoring, finished with 13 points on 2-of-13 shooting. Matisse Thybulle added 10 points before fouling out.
Over his last three games, Andrews is just 8-of-37 shooting.
"I don't remember a year Andrew has been here at some point in conference he hasn't gone through a little mini slump," Washington coach Lorenzo Romar said. "But man when he breaks out of that slump he's been nails."
Kodi Justice and Willie Atwood both finished with 14 points for Arizona State. Justice's banked 3-pointer with 13 seconds left in regulation forced overtime after Murray missed a chance to give Washington a four-point lead by splitting a pair of free throws with 24 seconds remaining.
But Hurley knew overtime was going to be difficult with foul trouble and fatigue.
"The guys played heavy minutes that were in there. We just didn't have anything more to offer," Hurley said.
Washington trailed by 13 in the opening moments of the second half, but went on a 19-6 run to pull even at 51. Murray scored nine points during the run but was slowed briefly after twisting his ankle with 12:28 left.
After getting the ankle tapped, Murray returned and combined with Chriss to match every Arizona State run. The only blemish from Murray was missing the second of his free throws with 24 seconds left that allowed Justice a chance to hit the tying 3-pointer and force overtime.
Washington made 6 of 8 shots in overtime. Arizona State was 1 of 8.
