LONDON (AP) Yasir Shah became the first legspinner in 20 years to grab a five-wicket haul at Lord's as Pakistan limited England to 253-7 on the second day of the first test on Friday.
Shah (5-64) ran through the top order once he broke a 110-run, second-wicket stand between captain Alastair Cook (81) and Joe Root (48).
Fast bowler Chris Woakes, who took a career-best 6-70 in Pakistan's first innings score of 339, was batting on 31 while Stuart Broad survived a close lbw appeal in the last over by Shah to remain unbeaten on 11. England still trailed Pakistan by 86 runs.
Pakistan was earlier bowled out for 339 after resuming at the overnight 282-6.
Root hit a needless slog sweep, while James Vince, Gary Ballance and Moeen Ali were trapped leg before wicket by Shah. Jonny Bairstow was clean bowled while going for a cut shot.
Cook made the most of the two dropped catches in Mohammad Amir's return test match before he finally played on to the left-arm fast bowler in the last session after hitting 12 boundaries in his 124-ball knock.
Amir should have got rid of Cook twice but the fielders muffed easy chances behind the wickets.
The England captain got his first reprieve on 22 when Mohammad Hafeez couldn't hold onto a low two-handed catch in the slips, and wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed grassed a regulation catch soon after Cook completed his half century with a smearing square cut off Rahat Ali.
Shah ignited the collapse in a quick burst of three wickets after lunch just when it seemed Cook and Root were little troubled by the bowlers.
Moeen Ali and Bairstow added 41 runs for the seventh wicket before Shah completed his five-wicket haul by removing the pair. Pakistan bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed was the last legspinner to claim five wickets in an innings at Lord's when he took 5-57 in 1996.
Earlier, Woakes claimed two more wickets to curtail Pakistan's progress after it resumed its first innings.
Woakes had Ahmed (25) caught at point and then uprooted Wahab Riaz's off stump in space of three deliveries. Misbah could add only four to his overnight 110 before Broad clean-bowled him from the other end, and wrapped up the innings by having Amir caught in the slips.
