Scrimmage ends 1st week of Cowboys camp

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) -- Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray and the Dallas Cowboys wrapped up their first week of training camp with a scrimmage.
The controlled session Sunday came exactly one month before the Cowboys play their season opener Sept. 5 at the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. About 12,000 fans attended.
With 18 players injured and not playing, the scrimmage was more situational work for the starters, including red zone and two-minute drills.
Murray had several strong runs and a nice leaping catch against linebacker Sean Lee during a two-minute drill. Murray led the Cowboys in rushing as a rookie last season even while missing the last three games because of a broken right ankle.
Murray says players had a "little more juice" and it was good to compete hard.
