Schlemko signs 2-year deal with Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Phoenix Coyotes general manager Don Maloney announced Monday that defensemen David Schlemko has signed a two-year contract extension.

“We are very pleased to sign David to a multi-year contract," said Maloney. "David is a skilled defenseman and has developed into a reliable player for us. In today's game where skating, mobility and puck movement are so important for defensemen, David's talent makes us a better team."

The 25-year-old Schlemko has two assists and 26 blocked shots in nine games with the Coyotes this season. The 6-foot-1, 197-pounder appeared in a career-high 46 games last season, registering one goal, 10 assists, 10 penalty minutes, 88 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating. In 118 career games, he has six goals, 27 assists and 44 penalty minutes.
