WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) New Zealand allrounder Mitchell Santner has a broken wrist and will miss the first test against Pakistan which begins at Christchurch on Nov. 17.

Santner suffered a hairline fracture while batting in the nets for his Northern Districts province this week and may also miss the second test against Pakistan at Hamilton from Nov. 25.

The 23-year-old is currently New Zealand's top test spin bowler and a key batsman. In 10 tests since his debut earlier this year he has averaged 23.46 with the bat and has taken 25 wickets at 38.48.

Head coach Mike Hesson said ''we're unsure whether Mitch will be available for the second test at this stage, but we'll be monitoring his recovery closely and look forward to having him back.''
