San Dimas baseball looks to continue undefeated season in CIF-SS playoffs

The road to a CIF Southern Section Division 3 title and the completion of an undefeated season for San Dimas begins on Thursday.
The Saints will play the winner of Tuesday's wild card match between La Quinta and Palmdale.
San Dimas is in rarefied air after completing the regular season 28-0.
It's been 11 years since a California team finished the season undefeated. In 2004, Chatsworth went 35-0 to win its second straight mythical national championship. Future big leaguers Matt Dominguez and Mike Moustakas were freshmen on that team.
This San Dimas squad is led by pitcher pitcher Peter Lambert, who is committed to UCLA but is expected to be an early-round selection in next month's MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Lambert is 11-0 on the season with a 0.41 ERA -- the Saints staff boasts a 0.44 ERA on the season.

Coming out on top of Division 3 could have the Saints claiming their own mythical national title. San Dimas ended the regular season as USA Today's No. 1 team in the country.
"They're aware of it but they don't sit and talk about it," San Dimas co-head coach Mike Regan said about the way his team has handled the national attention last week after wrapping up a undefeated regular season. "We're trying to keep the kids focused on doing what we do and staying with what got us here -- our pitching, our defense, and our pressure game offensively."
Aside from keeping an eye on San Dimas' quest for perfection, the eyes of the Southern California baseball world will be on Division 1.
JSerra is the top seed in the division followed by Huntington Beach, Agoura, and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame.
First-round games begin Thursday, as well, with the top four seeds all playing winners of Tuesday's wild card games.
The Lions are the back-to-back winners of the Trinity League and set a school record for wins with 25 this season.
