Saints get win at the expense of Brees' neck

Playing in the NFL can be brutal at times, but after seeing 49ers' linebacker Ahmad Brooks huge hit on Saints' quarterback Drew Brees on Saturday afternoon, it can be downright painful to watch too.

The hit happened late during the fourth quarter on a third-and-two play. Brees fumbled the ball, which was recovered by San Francisco, but Brooks was called for a roughing the passer penalty and the Saints went on to tie the game on the same drive. Later New Orleans won a last second field goal.

If Brooks' massive hit on Brees hadn't draw the penalty, the 49ers would have likely walked out of the Superdome with a big win. Instead the Saints' quarterback is heading home with a very sore, overstretched neck—but at least he does come away with the coveted win.
