Saint Louis pulls away from Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Cody Ellis scored 17 of his season-high 20 points in the second half as Saint Louis defeated Saint Joseph's 72-60 Wednesday night.

Ellis came off the bench to hit 6 of 9 3-pointers, 5 of 5 in the second half, as the Billikens (19-5, 7-3 Atlantic 10 Conference) pulled away to win their third straight game and sixth in the last seven.

Saint Louis led 12-0 early, then the Hawks (15-10, 5-5) rallied for their only lead, at 23-21 with 2:55 left until halftime.

The game was tied three times after the break, the last at 39, then the Billikens used a 13-1 run, with two treys by Ellis and one by Kwamain Mitchell, to build a 12-point lead.

Brian Conklin added 13 points and Mitchell 12 for Saint Louis.

Langston Galloway led Saint Joseph's, whose two-game winning streak ended, with 15 points, while Ronald Roberts Jr. had 14.
