Ruiz, Bauer top farmhands for April

Triple-A Reno infielder Randy Ruiz and Double-A Mobile right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer have been named the Diamondbacks Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month for April.
Ruiz, 34, hit .372 with six home runs and 23 RBi in 21 games at Reno. The former Minnesota Twin and Toronto Blue Jay, who signed with the Diamondbacks on March 1, leads all Diamondback farmhands in average, slugging percentage (.667) and OPS (1.097).
Bauer, 21, went 5-0 with a 1.26 ERA in 28.2 innings for Mobile, limiting opponents to a .184 average. He leads the Southern League in wins, ERA and strikeouts (37) while striking out an average of 11.62 batters per nine innings. Bauer entered 2012 ranked by Baseball America and MLB.com as the No. 1 Prospect in the D-backs’ organization and was the third player selected in the 2012 draft.
