Kansas City right-hander Yohan Pino gave the Royals 3 1/3 solid innings Monday night in relief of Danny Duffy. But with the bullpen getting stretched thin, Pino was optioned to Triple A Omaha, the team announced Tuesday.

Taking Pino's spot in the bullpen is right-hander Aaron Brooks, who was recalled from Omaha.

Pino had a 0.64 ERA in six games for the Royals this season with 13 strikeouts and a 1.00 WHIP over 14 innings.

Brooks, 25, started five games for the Storm Chasers, compiling a 3.51 ERA and 35 strikeouts with nine walks in 33 1/3 innings. He appeared in two games last season for Kansas City, including a spot start at Toronto in which he lasted only two-thirds of an inning, surrendering seven earned runs.
