Roy sits out second half with sore knee

MINNEAPOLIS – Brandon Roy did not return from the locker room at halftime of the Timberwolves-Pacers game on Friday after experiencing soreness in his right knee. It was the same knee he bumped in the Timberwolves' final preseason game against the Bucks in Green Bay on Oct. 26.
Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman said that he did not think it was one particular collision that sparked the pain, but that the knee just began to bother him as the first half wore on.
The team announced after the 96-94 win that Roy will travel to Chicago for Saturday's game. J.J. Barea, who's out with a sprained left foot, is remaining in Minneapolis, so the fact that Roy is traveling should bode well, and coach Rick Adelman did not seem overly concerned in the postgame press conference.
"He came back when we rested it a little bit," Adelman said of the last time Roy felt soreness in the knee. "So I really don't know. I have no clue."
Roy retired before the 2011-12 season due to bad knees, and he's staging his comeback this season with the Timberwolves after undergoing Regenokine injections (a form of platelet-rich plasma therapy) in his knees. So far this season, he's still been trying to get his rhythm and scoring touch back, and he has looked stiff at times. In five games, he's averaging 5.8 points and 4.6 rebounds.
On Friday, Roy started the night strong, scoring six points in 15 minutes. He had one rebound and one assist, as well.
