Rosenthal: Indians in the market for pitching 'for this year and beyond'
Teams are "aggressively scouting" the Indians' farm system with the knowledge that the Tribe is after a high-quality arm, FOX Sports MLB insider Ken Rosenthal reports.
A rival executive tells Rosenthal that Cleveland is looking for "Miami Marlins-type pitching" in a deal.
The Indians' team ERA of 4.14 ERA is currently 24th in baseball. However, they sit in -- or near -- the top 10 in major batting categories.
For now, Cleveland is rolling with a four-man rotation after recently sending starter Zach McAllister down to Triple-A Columbus. Corey Kluber is the only Indians starter with an ERA under 4.00 and more wins than losses.
The Indians are no strangers to acquiring a pitcher in a big deadline deal. In 2011, they nabbed Ubaldo Jimenez from Colorado in a deal centered around pitching prospects Alex White and Drew Pomeranz.
Rosenthal reports that Indians would like to get someone who can help them now and down the line. Jimenez spent only two full seasons in Cleveland, choosing to opt for free agency and sign with the Orioles this offseason.
