Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and his wife, Candice Crawford, gave birth to their first child on Monday night, the team confirmed on Tuesday.

"Hawkins Crawford Romo is now a part of the Dallas Cowboys family," Cowboys spokesperson Rich Dalrymple said on Tuesday. "He came into this world on 4/9/12 at 5:30 p.m. Eight pounds and eight ounces.

"All is well with mom."

The Dallas Cowboys confirmed the report on the team's website.

Not surprisingly, it was some of Romo's teammates who benefit the most from his accurate passes that congratulated him on his new arrival on Twitter...the wide receivers.

"Congrats to my boy Tony Romo on his first child," receiver Dez Bryant Tweeted.

"Congrats 2 my boy Tony Romo. He had his 1st child yesterday...I'm sending Baby Hawkins a autograph pic of Daddy 2 Ungle Jess for 77 yards!!!" Tweeted receiver Jesse Holly, referring to his overtime touchdown reception to beat the San Francisco 49ers earlier this season.

During a local radio interview in February, Crawford said she was hoping the couple's first child would be a boy so he could watch his father play quarterback in the NFL.

"Lord willing, Tony gets to play for another three years, if he doesn't get hurt or whatever," she said. "If we had a 3-year-old, they can go to the games and have those memories. ... [Jason Witten's sons] are 3 and 5 and they go to all the games and they wear their little daddy jerseys, and so they have those memories. Not that a girl couldn't because I'm sure she would have those too. It's just different to have your little son there."

Romo's brother-in-law, Chace Crawford, said last month that the couple was expecting their first child in the "next couple weeks." He added that Romo was "over-the-moon excited" about becoming a father.

In October, Romo revealed to a group of Cedar Hill High School students that his wife was pregnant.

Other than saying he's excited, Romo hasn't publicly discussed fatherhood.

The Cowboys franchise quarterback married the former Miss Missouri and local TV reporter in May 2011.
