Romo proud of Bryant's growing maturity

Following Dez Bryant's arrest in July for allegedly assaulting his mother, Tony Romo was one of the first Cowboys to speak publicly about the young wide receiver.
The Cowboys quarterback showed support for Bryant by saying he prays for him and lets Bryant know that he has his back.
On Wednesday, Romo was asked during a conference call with Baltimore media members if he offers Bryant guidance regarding his off-the-field issues.
As he did in July, Romo supported his teammate.
"Yeah, me and Dez talk all the time," Romo said. "He's in a position where everyone, being in the public eye, is going to know what's going on. It's just part of growing and maturing and becoming the guy that he is. I am proud of him. He is doing a good job as he continues to take steps in his life on and off the field."
In his third season with the Cowboys, the former first-round pick has underperformed on the field. Bryant only has two 100-yard receiving games on his resume and although he has 17 touchdowns, none have come in the last six games.
Even when he has excelled on the stat sheet, like he did against the Chicago Bears, questions about his concentration and route-running still remain.
Bryant's career-high 105 receiving yards in a 34-18 loss to the Bears in Week 4 was overshadowed by three costly drops and a miscommunication with Romo that led to an interception returned for a score.
But Romo says he sees progress.
"He's doing a good job," Romo said. "He is working hard. He has come a long way in his three years. He is starting to understand the game better, and every week that goes by, he gets better and better."
