Roll With Joe held off Big Jim by a neck to win the $1 million Meadowlands Pace.

Driver Ron Pierce won the Pace for the third time in the past four years. It was the fourth Pace win overall for the Hall of Famer.

Roll With Joe was the first Pace starter for trainer Ed Hart. The colt earned $500,000 for Blue Chip Bloodstock, Wallkill, N.Y.; Stephen Demeter, Tarrytown, N.Y.; Not To Worry Stable, N.Y. and Winbak Farm, Chesapeake City, MD.

After yielding an early lead, Roll With Joe took charge rounding the final turn and held off a desperate late rally from Big Jim, last season's champion.
