Rockets installing monster video screen

HOUSTON — If the state of Texas doesn't have the biggest of something, just wait a few minutes and check again.
The Houston Rockets are installing the largest indoor center-hung video screen in the United States, the team announced. Made by Panasonic, the new video board at Toyota Center will have four sides. The wide sides will measure 25 feet by 58 feet, while the smaller panels, facing the baselines will measure 25 by 25.
The new full HD video board is part of an array of enhancements to the Toyota Center as the Rockets prepare to host the 2013 NBA All-Star Game in February.
"This is an exciting day for Toyota Center and the more than 1.3 million patrons who attend events here each year," said Houston Rockets and Clutch City Sports & Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Tad Brown. "(Owner Leslie) Alexander has always challenged us to find innovative ways of improving the fan experience, and this new scoreboard is quite simply going to be the best-in-class among indoor arenas in the country."
The new board, which is 600-percent larger than the existing video board at Toyota Center, is not bigger than its famous NFL cousin at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, which measures 72 feet by 160 feet per side. Unlike Toyota Center, though, Cowboys Stadium has a retractable roof, which technically makes it an indoor/outdoor facility.
Toyota Center hosts more than 1.3 million guests per year, with crowds coming to see the Rockets, the Houston Aeros, a minor league hockey team, concerts and other events.
