What the 2014 season was to quarterbacks, locally, at the high school level, the 2015 season is shaping up to be for wide receivers.

The 2015 season will be dubbed the Year of the Wide Receiver and USC coaches will be lining up to sign some of the top stars for their 2016 class.

The Trojans got a head start, however, on Thursday receiving a signed Letter of Intent from one of the top junior college wide receivers in the country in Isaac Whitney from Riverside City College.

Whitney will be a midyear transfer and enroll in USC in time for spring practice.

"Dynamic," wide receivers coach Tee Martin said in a statement describing Whitney. "Isaac brings a size and speed combination that we do not have currently in our room. He brings some experience, and we are excited that as a mid-year, he will be able to go through spring practice with us. We are looking forward to adding him to a talented group that is really coming into its own."

The 6-4, 205-pound receiver led RCC with 49 catches for 809 yards during the 2014 season. He was named Second Team National Division Central League and is a four-star recruit, according to Scout.com.

Whitney is the second Juco receiver to commit to USC in this recruiting class, joining Long Beach City College wide receiver De'Quan Hampton.

USC currently has five wide receiver commits in the 2015 recruiting class.
