Report: Vikings re-sign Fred Evans

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings appeared to have a need entering free agency on the interior of the defensive line with only three players returning.
Minnesota decided to fill its depth with the same players thought to be leaving. Backup defensive tackles Letroy Guion and Fred Evans hit unrestricted free agency on Tuesday, but the Vikings have reportedly signed both of them in the following days. The Web site profootballtalk.com reported late Friday night that Minnesota had agreed to terms to bring Evans back to the team he has been with since 2007.
Guion was re-signed to a three-year deal, worth a reported $9 million on Tuesday shortly after free agency opened. Evans, 28, appeared in 16 games last season and finished with 35 tackles, five tackles for loss and 11 quarterback hurries.
Kevin Williams and Remi Ayodele are the starters and Christian Ballard enters his second year as a backup at defensive tackle.
