Alan Trammell and Kirk Gibson are reuniting in the desert.

According to MLB writer Jason Beck, Trammell will become Gibson's bench coach in Arizona.

Gibson, interim manager for the Diamondbacks for much of this past season, was recently named the team's permanent skipper.

Trammell, bench coach for the Chicago Cubs under Lou Piniella, was passed over for the manager job when  Piniella retired at the end of the season. Mike Quade took over for Piniella.

Gibson was Trammell's bench coach when the longtime Tigers shortstop managed in Detroit.

Of course, Gibson and Trammell were teammates on the Tigers' 1984 championship team.
